I was shocked when I opened the book and found a glorified brochure for a manual.<br /><br />The camera isn't a kodak instamatic. It has a ton of fffffeatures.<br /><br /><br /><br />Features, does the camera have features? Well, yes it does. But you have to either read onliine or print up a ton of pages to figure out the features. I don't want to lug around a paper bound notebook. I don't want to lug around my computer to look up something about the camera while I'm out shooting.<br /><br />For $400. bucks, they could include the books. <br /><br />The manufactuer should be ashamed of being so cheap.<br /><br /><br /><br /><strong>Really disappointed with this camera</strong><br />I upgraded from an S5is (or so I thought) and used this camera to photograph a 300 person event. The picture quality was noticeably inferior to the S5is which I've used the last 3 times for the same event. It was a struggle all evening to get the camera to focus right. The communication between the camera and the 430ex flash was off. The lighting was horrible. I tried filters, bouncing, dispersers etc. to no avail. Low light pics were non-existent because the camera was unable to focus properly. Also, the time it took to zoom in and focus was way too long. For the first time I heard people commenting. "come on already..." <br /><br />I've been taking crystal clear pics with the S5is and glad I kept it. Needless to say, I returned the SX20is. I've never had to throw away or photoshop so many pics due to blurring and lighting issues. Perhaps I just got a lemon or bad sensor. Bummer though. I am now looking into buying a Nikon DSLR to avoid future frustrations. <br /><br /><strong>Best I have ever had!!</strong><br />I really love this camera. I wanted something that would capture all my sons good and not so good moments. So far this has been the best one I have has so far. I was sick of pictures coming out blurry and ruined and I have yet to have a picture that I didnt like and alot that I LOVE!!! If you do manual it can be hard to figure out but auto will do it all for you. <br /><br /><strong>Great purchase</strong><br />I was either going to buy this camera or the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX1. However, I have always had good luck with Canon cameras. The cameras are very similar with a few trade-offs. The decision came down to the external flash option with this camera. I bought the Canon Speedlite 270 EX as well. It makes an unbelievable difference with indoor photos.<br /><br /><strong>Everything I had hoped for and more</strong><br />I have used the Sony H9, and then H50 for 4 years and love the flexibility of the super-zoom with articulated LCD and super-macro design. I was looking for a camera with the same features, but slightly higher image quality. The Canon is exactly that, with the bonus that it has a much more solid build than the Sonys.
